My name is Miguel Barrios Wilson, also known as Captain Mincho. I am a third-generation Tico, born and raised in Mal País, and the owner of Costa Rican Tropical Tours. I have spent my life on this coast and know these waters and the local way of life inside and out.
I love sharing the ocean with guests, whether they are fishing for the first time or have years of experience. Safety, fun, and a great day on the water come first, and I enjoy teaching beginners just as much as fishing with a seasoned angler.
Costa Rican Tropical Tours is a family business, and together with Karen and our team, I’m proud to share the place we call home and the experiences that make Mal País so special. When I’m not on the water — I’m in it. Pura Vida!
Karen Navarro was born in San Ramón, Costa Rica, and has called Mal País home for many years. She has helped shape Costa Rican Tropical Tours over the years and plays a central role in how the business operates today.
Karen manages bookings, guest communication, and the coordination behind each experience. Together, they have built Costa Rican Tropical Tours around the place they call home and the experiences they love sharing with others.
She loves the beach, the sunshine, and the easygoing lifestyle that makes Mal País such a special place to live and visit.
